If you do not already have a dental provider, we would be happy to suggest a few to choose from.

Phone consultation:

Prior to the appointment you will have an opportunity to talk with the anesthesiologist about your health, medications, prior anesthesia experiences, and what to expect from your appointment. Please have a list of medications available as well as your physician’s phone number. A cost estimate and payment arrangements will be made at this time.

Pre-anesthesia instructions:
You or your patient will need an escort on the day of the appointment as driving is not permitted for 24 hours after anesthesia. Choose a trusted, responsible adult. Taking a taxi or public transportation home after the appointment is not allowed.

Food and drink restrictions are strictly enforced. This greatly reduces the risk of serious complications that are avioded by following the dietary guidelines.

They are:

  • No solids are permitted for 8 hrs. prior to the appointment.
  • Clear fluids such as water, clear soda, black coffee (NO creamer or milk) and apple juice are permitted up to 4 hours prior to the appointment.
  • Dairy, orange juice, and other non-clear beverages should not be consumed for 8 hours prior to the appointment.
  • Wear loose comfortable clothing with short sleeves to facilitate the placement of an IV and blood pressure cuff.

Payment information:
For average adults, the cost of treatment under anesthesia is $550/ hr and $650/hr with children 12 and under. The estimated time is your dentist’s time to complete the work plus time for initiation of the anesthesia as well as recovery (about one hour in addition to the dental work). The minimum charge is $1500. There are no hidden fees for travel, disposable supplies, medications, IV fluids, etc. This is a simple, comprehensive cost. Payment arrangements will be made during the phone consultation. Our anesthesiologist is not affiliated with your dentist or any dental or medical insurance plans. A statement can be made that would be appropriate to send to your insurance company for reimbursement. It should be known that most dental and medical insurance plans do not have anesthesia benefits. In most instances, if there were benefits for anesthesia, the plan maximums are reached with the dental work alone.
